Getting There

• From Delhi: overnight bus to Bhuntar (10–12 hrs) — HRTC ordinary ~₹450–900, private Volvo ~₹1,000–2,000. Pickups at ISBT Kashmere Gate, Majnu ka Tila, RK Ashram.
• Bhuntar → Kasol: shared taxi ~₹100–150 (~30 min, daylight) or HRTC local bus ~₹50–100 (~1 hr).
• Kasol → Barshaini: shared taxi ~₹100–150/person (~40 min); then a ~1-hr uphill walk to Tosh. Kasol → Manikaran ~₹50–100 shared (~20 min).

Typical Budgets

• Backpacker: ₹1,000–₹1,800/day — dorm ₹400–900, dhaba food ₹300–500, shared transport.
• Mid-range: ₹2,500–₹4,500/day — private room ₹1,200–2,500, café meals ₹800–1,200.

Practical Tips

• Sleep in Tosh or Kalga, transit through Kasol — better value, calmer, and Kalga is the best Kheerganga base.
• Withdraw cash at Kasol’s ATMs — nothing beyond, and mobile signal vanishes after Kasol. Download offline maps.
• Kheerganga is a day trek only (overnight camping banned since July 2024): start by 6 am, registration ~₹100 at Barshaini, hot-spring entry ~₹300–500.
• Manikaran’s gurudwara serves free langar and the hot springs are free — go in the morning before the crowds.
• If you visit Malana, the no-touch rules are strictly enforced — fines run ~₹2,500–3,500.

What I Wish I Knew

• Kasol town is the lobby, not the destination — the real valley is a shared taxi uphill. Everything above Barshaini runs on cash and offline mode; pack a power bank and warm layers even in summer.

Permits & Notes

• No permits needed for Kasol/Tosh/Kheerganga. Avoid Jul–Aug (slippery trails, landslide risk); Dec–Feb snow-closes the Tosh/Kheerganga trails without proper gear.
